[who is b.wise]

born and raised in georgia, alston had a love for art early on. at summer camp, she was miserable in every activity except needlepoint and art + crafts. she began her artistic career in oil paints, studying art everywhere from florence, italy to atlanta, to houston, to most recently boston. when her first son was born she began combining her passion for art with photography and found a new way to express herself artistically that she loved.

alston finds inspiration in many things - architecture [she actually has a secret desire to be an architect], the changing of the seasons, geometry, textures - to name a few. she describes her style as "classic with a modern twist," preferring clean lines and simplicity in her designs.

[how b.wise came to be]

the idea for b.wise papers began many years ago. you might actually say that it was born out of a 6-yr-old's love of paper and pen. maybe even that little girl's willingness to trade a brand-new heart hair clip for a somewhat tattered hello kitty notepad on the school bus. how could you pass up all that paper? [it came with a pencil, too, by the way.]

that same little girl was called "b" by her family. there is an ongoing debate as to the official origin of this nickname - mom's version... "you were just so busy!" sisters' version... "it's because you were so bossy." whatever the reason it stuck. and so, there was much excitement when this little girl married a young lad with the last name "wise" [aside from the fact that he's totally awesome]. at last, this little girl would b. wise.

when the baby wises came on the scene, alston become more aware + concerned with all the chemicals + toxins that were being released into our atmosphere.  she knew that when she started her business that doing her part to help preserve this good green earth would be a priority.  she wanted to find a more natural method of printing, using only recycled + post consumer papers.  she wants her customers to feel good about what they are buying + sending out, that they too are doing their part in keeping our earth lovely.
